Andalusia - A series of earthquakes robs Granada's residents of their sleep

No end in sight

Granada (Andalusia) - More than 1,260 earthquakes have been registered in the region of Granada since December 1st, 2020. Some quakes even reached a peak magnitude of 5. Cracks have started to appear at individual houses. People keep running onto the streets at night, the constant fear wearing them down. According to experts, a quick end is not in sight. Hopefully, a major quake will fail to appear. Hospitals and emergency forces are already completely overloaded due to COVID-19.

Lorca (Murcia), 180 km away from Granada, registered an earthquake with a magnitude of 5,1 on May 11, 2011. 9 people lost their lives, 300 were injured.

On December 25, 1884, Malaga experienced a quake with a magnitude of 6,5. Almost 900 people died.

You can find a live earthquake map on www.meteo365.es. The map shows worldwide all quakes (with a magnitude of >3) of the last three days.
