Passenger figures - Málaga Airport in December 2020

Spain registers a shortfall of 72,4 % in 2020

In December 2020, Málaga Airport registered another big slump regarding airline passengers. A total of 208,235 passengers were counted in Málaga which represents a minus of 81,7 % compared to December 2019. 5,16 million passengers were registered in Málaga from January to December 2020 which equals a decrease of 74,0 % compared to the same period in 2019.

Here, the December figures of 2020 for the remaining Andalusian airports (compared to December 2019):

Sevilla - 87,838 passengers (-85,0 %)
Jerez de la Frontera - 10,822 passengers (-74,7 %)
Almeria - 12,097 passengers (-65,5 %)
Granada - 20,050 passengers (-80,3 %)

Here, the passenger figures of December 2020 for other Spanish airports (compared to December 2019):

Palma de Mallorca - 243,585 passengers (-74,4 %)
Ibiza - 82,530 passengers (-59,5 %)
Valencia - 93,598 passengers (-84,3 %)
Alicante - 126,143 passengers (-85,6 %)
Bilbao - 72,786 passengers (-81,7 %)
Gran Canaria - 348,991 passengers (-71,4 %)

From January to December 2020 compared to 2019:

Madrid - 17,12 million passengers (-72,3 %)
Barcelona - 12,74 million passengers (-75,8 %)
Gran Canaria - 5,13 million passengers (-61,3 %)
Palma de Mallorca - 6,11 million passengers (-79,4 %)

All Spanish Airports combined reported a shortfall of 72,4 % in 2020. In numbers: 245,25 million passengers were counted in 2019 and only 76,06 million passengers were recorded in 2020.

Note: In December 2020, all Spanish Airports combined registered a total of 3,82 million passengers. Considering that 1,61 million of those passengers visited via international routes, the slump amounts to 86,3 % compared to December 2019.
