Passenger figures - Malaga Airport August 2020

#Coronavirus - How are the airlines supposed to survive?

In August 2020, Malaga Airport registered another small growth regarding airline passengers compared to July and June. However, the numbers are still catastrophic in comparison to last summer. A total of 677,874 passengers were welcomed in Malaga which represents a fatal minus of 69,3 % compared to August 2019. 4,1 million passengers were welcomed in Malaga from January to August 2020 which equals a drop of 70,0 % compared to the same period in 2019.

Here, the August figures of 2020 for the remaining Andalusian airports (compared to August 2019):

Sevilla - 255,943 passengers (-59,6 %)
Jerez de la Frontera - 31,758 passengers (-76,1 %)
Almeria - 26,461 passengers (-79,3 %)
Granada - 42,935 passengers (-59,6 %)

Here, the passenger figures of August 2020 for other Spanish airports (compared to August 2019):

Palma de Mallorca - 1,24 million passengers (-71,0 %)
Alicante - 480,710 passengers (-71,6 %)
Valencia - 338,430 passengers (-62,0 %)
Gran Canaria - 469,560 passengers (-56,5 %)
Ibiza - 574,974 passengers (-58,2 %)
Bilbao - 219,507 passengers (-61,3 %)

From January to August 2020 compared to 2019

Madrid - 13,70 million passengers (-66,6 %)
Barcelona - 10,29 million passengers (-71,1 %)
Gran Canaria - 3,88 million passengers (-55,8%)
Palma de Mallorca - 4,76 million passengers (-77,4 %)

Note: In August 2020, all Spanish Airports combined registered a total of 8,95 million passengers. 4,07 million of those passengers only made a pit stop (international routes), which leads to a drop of 80,7 % compared to August 2019.
