Spain - Tourism figures July 2020

Almost 400,000 Britons travelled to Spain for the holidays

2,46 million foreign tourists visited Spain in July 2020, which is a minus of 75,0 % compared to July 2019.

The French people rank first with 597,244 tourists (-58,4 %), followed by the Germans with 432,302 tourists (-65,2 %). The Britons rank 3rd with 377,886 tourists (-82,5 %).

January to July 2020

From January to July, 2,41 million Britons (-76,9 %) travelled to Spain. The French people rank 2nd with 2,01 million tourists (-67,2 %), followed by the Germans with 1,78 million tourists (-72,9 %).

Spain registered a total of 13,25 million foreign visitors between January and July 2020 which corresponds to a minus of 72,4 %.

Andalusia ranks 3rd among Spain's most popular holiday destinations, right behind Catalonia and the Canary Islands.

Andalusia registered a total of 1,91 million foreign visitors which is a minus of 72,3 %.

The Canary Islands registered a total of 2,95 million foreign visitors which is a minus of 61,4 %.

The Balearic Islands registered a total of 1,02 million foreign visitors which is a minus of 87,0 %.

Economy

According to the Spanish Institute of Statistics, tourists generated a revenue of 14,3 billion euros from January to July 2020 which is a minus of 72,6 %. The Britons are responsible for a turnover of 2,33 billion euros and the Germans for a turnover of 1,93 billion euros.

Andalusia achieves a turnover of 2,03 billion euros with foreign tourists which currently represents a minus of 70,5 %.
