Spain - Tourism figures June 2020

German rank 2nd, Britons drop to 6th place

204,926 foreign tourists visited Spain in June 2020, which is a minus of 97,9 % compared to June 2019.

The French people rank first with 64,895 tourists (- 93,2 %), followed by the Germans with 33,740 tourists (- 97,4%), and the Britons rank 6th with 8,473 tourists (- 99,6 %).

January to June 2020

From January to June, 2,03 million Britons (-75,5 %) travelled to Spain. The French people rank 2nd with 1,41 million tourists (-69,8 %), followed by the Germans with 1,35 million tourists (-74,7 %).

Spain registered a total of 10,79 million foreign visitors between January and June 2020 which corresponds to a minus of 71,7 %.

Andalusia ranks 3rd among Spain's most popular holiday destinations, right behind Catalonia and the Canary Islands.

Andalusia registered a total of 1,55 million foreign visitors which is a minus of 72,5 %.

The Canary Islands registered a total of 2,73 million foreign visitors which is a minus of 58,6 %.

The Balearic Islands registered a total of 433,852 foreign visitors which is a minus of 92,2 %.

Economy

According to the Spanish Institute of Statistics, tourists generated a revenue of 11,8 billion euros from January to June 2020 which is a minus of 70,6 %. The Britons are responsible for a turnover of 1,96 billion euros and the Germans for a turnover of 1,5 billion euros.

Andalusia achieves a turnover of 1,68 billion euros with foreign tourists which currently represents a minus of 69,5 %.
