Tourism in the province of Malaga

The projections fear the worst

The association of hotel entrepreneurs at the Costa del Sol (AEHCOS) includes 348 members which offer a total of 88,423 sleeping places.

Yesterday morning, the latest report was published:

Supposedly, a total of 155 providers will have opened their doors by the end of July offering 43,215 sleeping places . An occupancy of 36,33 % (July) and 42,71 % (August) was predicted for this minimised number of beds. In July, 16 % of the occupants will be foreign tourists. In August, it will be 26 %.

Even though there are numerous holiday flights heading towards Malaga every day, not many tourists seem to be aboard. The fear of another lockdown or a mandatory mask-wearing is too big. Many people are also wondering what would happen to them if they got COVID19 at their holiday location. This economic crisis appears to be just the beginning and we will have to wait and see what the situation will be like in autumn.
