Andalusia is expecting the first intense heatwave

Temperatures of more than 40 °C

As of Saturday, an anticyclone located in the southwest of Algeria will be moving hot air towards Spain. Andalusia and Extremadura will be expecting peak temperatures of more than 40 °C next week.

Since the water at the Costa del Sol is still fresh, Malaga Capital will be expecting values of +- 29 °C. Occasionally, fog might appear as well. The fog (called Taro) appears when hot and dry air from the south hits cold water in the Alboran Sea.

The outer troughs of a big low off Iceland will then be carrying hot air from Spain to France, England and Central and Northern Europe.
