
Cyclone Gloria brings chaos to Valencia and the Balearic Islands
Wave crests of up to 10 metres - Fresh snow in Ontinyent
Cyclone Gloria has been raging between Valencia and the Balearic Islands since Sunday noon. 140 mm of rain have already fallen on Mallorca and gusts of up to 110 km/h have been registered. The buoy of Dragonera reports wave heights of up to 969 cm.
Barx (Valencia) registers 80 mm of rain and a storm tide is swamping the beach of Denia (see video in ticker). The port of Valencia (see our webcams) registers wave crests of up to 800 cm and the waves are reaching the promenade even though the beach is wide.
A blanket of snow is covering Ontinyent (at 382 metres). It is also wintery in Murcia, Jaen and Albacete this morning and, again, a storm warning has been issued correspondingly.
It is also uncomfortable in Catalonia, the fire brigade registered a total of 211 operations since yesterday. Massive storm damages have been reported, the buoy of Barcelona currently measures wave heights of up to 525 cm.
