Spain - Tourism figures November 2019

Autumn ensures pleasant plus

4,66 million foreign tourists visited Spain in November 2019, which is a plus of 2,8 % compared to November 2018.

The Britons rank first with 875,196 tourists (-6,4 %), followed by the French people with 576,020 tourists (+20,6 %), and the Germans rank 3rd with 572,891 tourists (-0,4 %).

January to November 2019

From January to November, 17,28 million Britons (-2,2 %) travelled to Spain. The Germans rank 2nd with 10,68 million tourists (-1,8 %), followed by the French people with 10,60 million tourists (-1,3 %).

Spain registered a total of 79,38 million foreign visitors between January and November 2019 which corresponds to a plus of 1,2 %.

- 2,41 million tourists came from Belgium (+ 0,8 %)
- 2,09 million tourists came from Ireland (+ 6,8 %)
- 3,54 million tourists came from the Netherlands (- 4,4 %)
- 5,18 million tourists came from Scandinavia (- 4,5 %)
- 1,73 million tourists came from Switzerland (- 2,9 %)
- 3,16 million tourists came from the USA (+ 13,0 %)

Andalusia ranks 4th among Spain's most popular holiday destinations, right behind Catalonia, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands.

Andalusia registered a total of 11,52 million foreign visitors which is a plus of 3,5 %.

The Canary Islands registered a total of 11,97 million foreign visitors which is a minus of 4,4 %.

The Balearic Islands registered a total of 13,55 million foreign visitors which is a minus of 0,8 %.

Catalonia registered a total of 18,36 million foreign visitors which is a plus of 0,8 %.

Economy

According to the Spanish Institute of Statistics, tourists generated a revenue of 87,26 billion euros from January to November 2019 which is a plus of 3,0 %. The Britons are responsible for a turnover of 17,20 billion euros and the Germans for a turnover of 11,15 billion euros.

Andalusia achieves a turnover of 11,85 billion euros with foreign tourists which currently answers to a minus of 1,3 %.
