Orange level warning for Mallorca

Storm, rain and thunderstorms towards midnight

The vortex of clouds will move from North Africa back to the Alboran Sea during the course of the day. The storm front will ensure rain, storm, light thunderstorms and elevated swell in the provinces of Alicante and Valencia this evening.

As of midnight and in the early morning hours of Wednesday, the low will also reach the Balearic Islands. An orange level warning, regarding heavy rain and elevated swell, has been issued for Mallorca. Up to 50 mm of rain and wave heights of 500 cm have been forecasted. Gusts of 70 km/h have been announced as well as some noteworthy thunderstorms.

The storm front will move from Castellon towards Girona during the course of Wednesday. Elevated swell and intense precipitation are on the agenda. Teruel is expecting more than 10 cm of fresh snow at higher altitudes, and the snow line lies between 1,000 and 1,200 metres.
