Spain - Tourism figures October 2019

Andalusia with more tourists, but less revenue

7,62 million foreign tourists visited Spain in October 2019 which is a minus of 0,3 % compared to October 2018.

The Britons rank first with 1,65 million tourists (-4,4 %), followed by the Germans with 1,13 million tourists (-8,3 %), and the French people rank 3rd with 894,899 tourists (-1,7 %).

January to October 2019

From January to October, 16,41 million Britons (-1,9 %) travelled to Spain. The Germans rank 2nd with 10,11 million tourists (-1,9 %), followed by the French people with 10,02 million tourists (-2,3 %).

Spain registered a total of 74,72 million foreign visitors between January and October 2019 which corresponds to a plus of 1,1 %.

- 2,27 million tourists came from Belgium (+ 0,8 %)
- 1,99 million tourists came from Ireland (+ 6,6 %)
- 3,35 million tourists came from the Netherlands (- 5,1 %)
- 4,76 million tourists came from Scandinavia (- 5,1 %)
- 1,64 million tourists came from Switzerland (- 2,2 %)
- 2,94 million tourists came from the USA (+ 12,7 %)

Andalusia ranks 3rd among Spain's most popular holiday destinations, right behind Catalonia and the Balearic Islands.

Andalusia registered a total of 10,90 million foreign visitors which is a plus of 3,6 %.

The Canary Islands registered a total of 10,77 million foreign visitors which is a minus of 4,8 %.

The Balearic Islands registered a total of 13,37 million foreign visitors which is a minus of 0,8 %.

Catalonia registered a total of 17,31 million foreign visitors which is a plus of 0,8 %.

Economy

According to the Spanish Institute of Statistics, tourists generated a revenue of 82,19 billion euros from January to October 2019 which is a plus of 2,9 %. The Britons are responsible for a turnover of 16,38 billion euros and the Germans for a turnover of 10,53 billion euros.

Andalusia achieves a turnover of 11,18 billion euros with foreign tourists which currently answers to a minus of 1,7 %.
