Severe storm persists on Balearic Islands

Menorca - Waves are reaching heights of 781 cm

On yesterday's Wednesday, Vallehermoso (Canary Islands) was the warmest place in Spain with 23,6 °C. Xativa registered 20,9 °C in the autonomy of Valencia and Malaga obtained 22,5 °C in Andalusia. Pollenca reported 17,6 °C on the Balearic Islands. Soba (Cantabria) measured the most precipitation with 15,0 l/m² of rain.

The Spanish mainland on Thursday: At 06:00 am, Madrid reports -1,8 °C, Girona 2,6 °C, Bilbao 7,5 °C, Valencia 4,5 °C, Almeria 7,7 °C, Barcelona 5,0 °C, Alicante 7,3 °C, Sevilla 2,5 °C and Sierra Nevada's observatory -4,0 °C.

Light rain will be falling at the North Atlantic coast this morning, snow has been announced at higher altitudes. It remains stormy at the coasts of Galicia. Severe storm and some fresh snow have been forecasted for the Spanish Pyrenees today. The province of Girona registers gusts of 91 km/h and Castellon measures 103 km/h. The storm will persist especially in the province of Girona where the waves are reaching heights of 711 cm, an orange warning level is given. Other than that, it will be mostly sunny in large parts of the country. However, the peak temperatures are dropping slowly but surely.

Today's peak values amount 12 °C in Barcelona, 9 °C in Madrid, 9 °C in Bilbao, 14 °C in Alicante, 14 °C in Valencia, 15 °C in Sevilla, 10 °C in Girona and 11 °C in Santiago de Compostela.

The Balearic Islands on Thursday: Palma de Mallorca reports 7,6 °C at 06:00 am. The storm continues to sweep tirelessly across Menorca and Mallorca, gusts of 85 km/h have been measured. The wave crests at the east coast of Menorca are brutal, the buoy currently registers wave heights of up to 781 cm. An orange warning level is given of course. There will be a mix of sun and thick clouds today. Some rain will be falling here and there throughout the day. The peak temperatures amount 13 °C in Palma de Mallorca, 11 °C in Mao-Mahon and 13 °C in Eivissa.

The Canary Islands on Thursday: Las Palmas de Gran Canaria registers 15,5 °C at 05:00 am. It will be mostly sunny today, a few clouds will move across the islands occasionally. A weak breeze will be blowing across the coast of Southern Gran Canaria all day long. The peak temperatures amount +- 21 °C.

Costa del Sol on Thursday

At 06:00 am, Malaga (Playa La Malagueta) reports 13,7 °C and an air humidity of 33 %. Malaga's buoy registers a sea temperature of 15,4 °C and the waves are reaching heights of 33 cm.

At 06:00 am, Malaga Airport reports 12,9 °C and the wind is blowing with 32,0 km/h across the runways.

Los Reales reported 5,7 °C, Torrox 11,2 °C and Ronda registered 5,2 °C at 06:00 am.

The wind will abate during the course of the morning. Today, there will be more sun than clouds at first. Towards the evening, more and more clouds will pull up and a few drops of rain might fall here and there.

+- 17 °C have been forecasted for Marbella, +- 17 °C for Malaga (city), +- 16 °C for Manilva and +- 18 °C for Velez-Malaga. The Caminito del Rey is expecting +- 17 °C.

Tendency for the following days: More clouds than sun on Friday, the probability of precipitation amounts 35 %. The peak temperatures are manageable with +- 15 °C. It will be mostly sunny this weekend, though the temperatures will be fresh at 6 °C to 15 °C. The moderate to fresh breeze will ensure cold ears.
