Severe storm at the east coast and on the Balearic Islands

Sunny and mild at the Costa del Sol and in Valencia today

On yesterday's Tuesday, San Sebastian de la Gomera (Canary Islands) was the warmest place in Spain with 24,0 °C. Xativa registered 20,5 °C in the autonomy of Valencia and Motril obtained 22,6 °C in Andalusia. Son Servera reported 16,9 °C on the Balearic Islands. Renteria (Gipuzkoa) measured the most precipitation with 5,8 l/m² of rain.

The Spanish mainland on Wednesday: At 06:00 am, Madrid reports -1,9 °C, Girona -1,5 °C, Bilbao 8,1 °C, Valencia 1,9 °C, Almeria 6,2 °C, Barcelona 6,8 °C, Alicante 7,4 °C, Sevilla 1,1 °C and Sierra Nevada's observatory -3,4 °C.

Again, it is freezing cold this morning. In addition, light fog is covering the centre and north of Spain. Light rain will be falling at the North Atlantic coast today, the higher altitudes are expecting snow. Other than that, there will be more sun than clouds nationwide. It will be stormy again at the coasts of Galicia today.

A severe storm is already taking place in Girona, Tarragona, Castellon and the Spanish Pyrenees at breakfast time, gusts of 95 km/h have been registered. The storm will pick up speed towards the evening turning into a hurricane-like storm. In addition, there is an elevated swell. The waves are already reaching heights of 586 cm off Girona. The Spanish Pyrenees are expecting some snow, 5 cm of fresh snow have been announced.

Today's peak values amount 16 °C in Barcelona, 13 °C in Madrid, 11 °C in Bilbao, 18 °C in Alicante, 21 °C in Valencia, 17 °C in Sevilla, 14 °C in Girona and 15 °C in Santiago de Compostela.

The Balearic Islands on Wednesday: Palma de Mallorca reports 10,3 °C at 06:00 am. A few clouds here and there at breakfast time. Other than that, it will be mostly sunny today. Clouds will pull up towards the evening and some rain has been announced for Mallorca. The snow line will then lie at 1,000 metres. A stormy wind is already blowing at the west coast of Mallorca this morning, but will turn into a severe storm in the afternoon. A hurricane-like storm has been announced at the north coast of Mallorca and on Menorca towards midnight. The waves are already reaching heights of 492 cm in the east of Menorca. Towards the evening, the waves are supposed to reach heights of up to 600 cm, an orange warning level is given. The peak temperatures amount 16 °C in Palma de Mallorca, 15 °C in Mao-Mahon and 16 °C in Eivissa.

The Canary Islands on Wednesday: Las Palmas de Gran Canaria registers 15,7 °C at 05:00 am. A band of clouds (from SW) will move across the islands this morning. Mostly calm and sunny weather as of noon. The peak temperatures amount +- 22 °C.

Costa del Sol on Wednesday

At 06:00 am, Malaga (Playa La Malagueta) reports 8,3 °C and an air humidity of 67 %. Malaga's buoy registers a sea temperature of 15,6 °C and the waves are reaching heights of 21 cm.

At 06:00 am, Malaga Airport reports 6,0 °C and the wind is blowing with 16,0 km/h across the runways.

Los Reales reported 6,1 °C, Torrox 9,0 °C and Ronda registered 4,3 °C at 06:00 am.

In general, it will be sunny today. Later this morning, a few clouds will move across the coast for a short period of time. A light to weak breeze will be blowing all day long. A strong wind from NW has been announced for tonight though.

+- 19 °C have been forecasted for Marbella, +- 19 °C for Malaga (city), +- 20 °C for Manilva and +- 19 °C for Velez-Malaga. The Caminito del Rey is expecting +- 20 °C.

Tendency for the following days: Thursday will start sunny. It will be cloudier as of noon with peak temperatures of +- 17 °C. The probability of precipitation amounts 35 % on Friday morning, the peak temperatures amount +- 14 °C. It will be mostly sunny on Saturday and Sunday, though it will be fresh at maximally 15 °C. Low single-digit values have been announced especially at night.
