European windstorm already reaches gusts of 123 km/h

Weather warnings for large parts of the country

On yesterday's Wednesday, Pajara (Canary Islands) was the warmest place in Spain with 23,3 °C. Elche registered 22,0 °C in the autonomy of Valencia and Rincon de la Victoria obtained 23,2 °C in Andalusia. Pollenca reported 21,2 °C on the Balearic Islands. Vimianzo (Galicia) measured the most precipitation with 19,4 l/m² of rain.

The Spanish mainland on Thursday: At 06:00 am, Madrid reports 7,9 °C, Girona 8,4 °C, Bilbao 10,4 °C, Valencia 12,7 °C, Almeria 11,7 °C, Barcelona 10,6 °C, Alicante 13,3 °C, Sevilla 13,9 °C and Sierra Nevada's observatory -2,7 °C.

Today, a European windstorm will sweep across the mainland from west to east. A Coruña (Galicia) already measures gusts of 123 km/h. A hurricane-like storm will be blowing in the Straits of Gibraltar, Granada, Jaen and Almeria as of noon. The low will be carrying precipitation, the snow line drops to 1,000 metres. The windstorm will reach Alicante and Castellon at midnight.

Today's peak values amount 14 °C in Barcelona, 9 °C in Madrid, 14 °C in Bilbao, 17 °C in Alicante, 17 °C in Valencia, 17 °C in Sevilla, 13 °C in Girona and 12 °C in Santiago de Compostela.

The Balearic Islands on Thursday: Palma de Mallorca reports 8,6 °C at 06:00 am. It will be cloudy and increasingly windy this morning. Rain will set in towards the afternoon and it becomes stormy. A vortex will form above the Balearic Islands at midnight ensuring more than 60 mm of rain until Friday noon and severe to hurricane-like storm. Gusts of 100 km/h have been announced, the coasts of Ibiza are expecting wave heights of 400 cm. The peak temperatures amount 17 °C in Palma de Mallorca, 18 °C in Mao-Mahon and 17 °C in Eivissa.

The Canary Islands on Thursday: Las Palmas de Gran Canaria registers 18,3 °C at 05:00 am. There will be a mix of sun and clouds today, it remains dry though. A strong wind will be blowing at the east and west coast of Gran Canaria all day long. The peak temperatures amount +- 23 °C.

Costa del Sol on Thursday

At 06:00 am, Malaga (Playa La Malagueta) reports 15,0 °C and an air humidity of 59 %. Malaga's buoy registers a sea temperature of 16,0 °C and the waves are reaching heights of 28 cm.

At 06:00 am, Malaga Airport reports 12,9 °C and the wind is blowing with 9,0 km/h across the runways.

Los Reales reported 5,4 °C, Torrox 12,5 °C and La Viñuela registered 14,2 °C at 06:00 am.

The first clouds have already pulled up at breakfast time, the first drops of rain will fall. The wind will pick up speed this morning. By noon, it will be stormy with gusts of 70 - 80 km/h. Some noteworthy rain could fall between 10:00 am and 01:00 pm. The cloud cover will break up significantly towards the afternoon, but it remains stormy until the late evening.

+- 17 °C have been forecasted for Marbella, +- 17 °C for Malaga (city), +- 17 °C for Manilva and +- 18 °C for Velez-Malaga. The Caminito del Rey is expecting +- 16 °C.

Tendency for the following days: A strong wind will be blowing on Friday, it will be mostly sunny though. The peak temperatures will reach +- 15 °C. It will be more pleasant this weekend with +- 19 °C. It will be mostly sunny with only a few clouds and a weak to moderate breeze.
