Costa del Sol - Storm warning rather than late summer

Extremadura reports hot 37,3 °C

On yesterday's Thursday, Merida (Extremadura) was the warmest place in Spain with 37,3 °C in the shade. Jalance registered 33,5 °C in Valencia and Montoro obtained 37,0 °C in Andalusia. Calvia reached 31,0 °C on the Balearic Islands and Adeje measured 33,5 °C on the Canary Islands. Ronda (Andalusia) measured the most precipitation with 46,2 mm of rain (within one hour).

The Spanish mainland on Friday: At 06:00 am, Madrid reports 17,2 °C, Girona 17,1 °C, Bilbao 17,7 °C, Valencia 19,9 °C, Alicante 21,0 °C, Barcelona 21,9 °C, Sevilla 21,2 °C and Santiago de Compostela 15,0 °C.

A yellow level storm warning will be given for large parts of Andalusia and for Ciudad Real as of noon. Thunderstorms, hail and rain are on the agenda. It remains hot in Extremadura with +- 36 °C. It will also stay summery in Galicia, Ourense is expecting +- 33 °C. It will be mostly nice and warm at the east coast as well, a few clouds will pull up occasionally though.

Today's peak values amount 28 °C in Barcelona, 31 °C in Madrid, 25 °C in Bilbao, 29 °C in Alicante, 30 °C in Valencia, 32 °C in Sevilla, 30 °C in Girona and 28 °C in Santiago de Compostela.

The Balearic Islands on Friday: Palma de Mallorca reports 18,4 °C at 06:00 am. There will be a mix of sun and clouds during the course of the day. Some rain will be falling here and there as of noon. The peak temperatures amount 28 °C in Palma de Mallorca, 28 °C in Mao-Mahon and 28 °C in Eivissa.

The Canary Islands on Friday: Las Palmas de Gran Canaria registers 24,0 °C at 06:00 am. At sunrise, it is cloudy in the north of Gran Canaria and in the north-west of Tenerife. Sun and clouds will alternate on the Canary Islands today, the peak temperatures will reach +- 30 °C. As of noon, it will get windy in the north-west of Tenerife with gusts of 70 km/h. The wildfire risk lies at level 5 (out of 5) in the north of Gran Canaria and the north-east of Tenerife.

No late summer at the Costa del Sol today, instead it will be mostly cloudy. A yellow warning level has been issued for noon. It is still not clear where the thick thunderstorms will take place.
