Storm alert on the Balearic Islands

Malaga reports 30,5 °C at midnight

On yesterday's Thursday, Xativa (Valencia) was the warmest place in Spain with 37,9 °C in the shade. Coin (province of Malaga) registered 37,1 °C in Andalusia. Pollenca reached 35,5 °C on the Balearic Islands and La Aldea de San Nicolas measured 30,2 °C on the Canary Islands. Llorac (Tarragona) measured the most precipitation with 74,8 mm of rain.

The Spanish mainland on Friday: At 06:00 am, Madrid reports 17,2 °C, Girona 17,9 °C, Bilbao 15,3 °C, Valencia 24,2 °C, Alicante 26,7 °C, Barcelona 22,6 °C, Seville 18,1 °C and Santiago de Compostela 10,5 °C.

On August 10th, 1995, a severe storm took place between Yebra and Almoguera (Guadalajara), 10 people died in the process. Today, it will be partly cloudy at the east coast of Spain between Valencia and Girona, thunderstorms and rain have been announced as well. Other than that, it will be mostly nice. The Balearic Islands on Friday: Palma de Mallorca reports 23,9 °C at 06:00 am. Es Mercadal (Menorca) has been reporting 57,6 mm of rain since midnight, Pollenca registers 28,6 mm. In addition, it is stormy with gusts of 80 km/h. The storms will last until noon and an orange warning level is given. There will be a mix of sun and clouds as of noon. The peak temperatures amount 33 °C in Palma de Mallorca, 31 °C in Mao-Mahon and 32 °C in Eivissa.

The Canary Islands on Friday: Las Palmas de Gran Canaria registers 21,5 °C at 06:00 am. At breakfast time, a thin cloud cover is covering the islands, except for the south of Gran Canaria. During the course of the day, it will be mostly sunny and a bit cloudy here and there. It is expected to be the warmest in the south of Gran Canaria with up to +- 29 °C. It is stormy at the east and west coast of Gran Canaria with gusts of more than 70 km/h. Today, the wildfire risk lies at level 5 (out of 5) in the north of La Palma.

The terral (hot wind from the hinterland) surprised Malaga on Thursday ensuring a peak temperature of 35,8 °C. At midnight, Malaga even reported 30,5 °C.

At 06:00 am, Malaga (Playa La Malagueta) reports 25,5 °C and an air humidity of 43 %. Malaga's buoy registers a sea temperature of 21,5 °C and the waves are reaching heights of 37 cm.

At 06:00 am, Malaga Airport reports 24,4 °C and the wind is blowing with 6,0 km/h across the runways.

During the course of the day, the current will turn south-east carrying a few clouds. At midnight, the Feria of Malaga 2018 will be rung in with fireworks in the port of Malaga. The spectacle is said to last 13 minutes. At midnight, the temperatures will reach +- 25 °C and it will be windless.

+- 29 °C have been forecasted for Marbella, +- 30 °C for Malaga (city), +- 28 °C for Manilva and +- 32 °C for Velez-Malaga. The Caminito del Rey is expecting +- 34 °C. An UV level 8 will be given between 11 am and 3 pm. The wildfire risk lies at level 5 (out of 5) today.
