Rescue of two lions and a tiger from the Circus France

Torres de Cotillas - Circo Francia, also known as Circo París, has become yesterday the third Spanish circus to get rid of its wild animals in less than a year. Two lions and one tiger have been transferred to AAP Primadomus, the rescue center for wild animals based in Villena, Alicante. The animals were on unsuitable land for this purpose, in facilities without the legal requirement of a zoo, in the hands of people without the knowledge and sufficient means to take care of them.

The session of the animals takes place after months of negotiations and procedures between the circus managers, the authorities and animal welfare organizations.

Each time there are more circuses that voluntarily decide to put an end to their actions with wild animals, thus joining the obvious social and political transformation that demands a change in the paradigm of the circus show. Not in vain there are already four Autonomous Communities in Spain that have banned the practice (Catalonia, Balearic Islands, Galicia and Murcia) and more than 450 municipalities that no longer authorize the installation of circuses with wild animals. For its part, the veterinary community has already stated firmly that it is impossible that in the conditions that occur in a roaming circus can wild animals be kept in a dignified manner.
